TRANSITION WORKSHOPS
• Are you transitioning out of your midlife or primary career?
• Are you looking forward to full or phased retirement?
• Do you need to craft a new work/life identity?
• Do you need to revive your sense of purpose?
Navigating major transitions, especially in the second half of life, can be difficult, but it can also be joyful and rewarding. If we see transition as a purposeful, satisfying place to be for a while, our journeys become positive and purposeful, offering time and permission for review, rediscovery, retooling, and re-emergence.
No matter where we are in our journeys, Transition Workshops from LearningLife help us prepare for the next stage of life by allowing us to take a step back, rekindle our sense of purpose, make new connections, explore options, move toward meaningful “encore” work, and embrace community engagement in personally satisfying ways.
Workshops feature lively interaction with a community of learners, practical strategies and tools, and relevant, meaningful outcomes. LearningLife's outstanding teachers are seasoned practitioners and experts in their fields, as well as effective, committed facilitators and educators.

Transition workshops are held on weekday evenings or Saturday mornings to accommodate your scheduling needs. Most are held at the Continuing Education and Conference Center, conveniently located on the U of M’s St. Paul campus. Modestly priced parking is immediately adjacent to the Center. Evening workshops include a box supper and Saturday morning workshops held at the Conference Center include continental breakfast.
Here's a sampling of what participants in recent Transitions Workshops had to say:
Financial Planning for Life with Mark Fischer:
Wonderful overview of financial planning for life. I much appreciated the emphasis on life. Very responsive to individual questions.
Mark is an excellent teacher. His knowledge of the topic is excellent. The best $65 I've spent lately!
Blueprint for a Successful Retirement with Katherine Hirsh:
I loved the process that Katherine guided us through, and I gained tremendous perspective from the openness of the group.
Katherine set a relaxed, informal, and enjoyable tone. Respectful and encouraging toward all participants. The class was stimulating and well worth attending.
Your Next Chapter: Exploring Life/Work Options with Donna Bennett:
A great first step to finding a job after retirement. Enjoyed the small group work with others who have the same motivation as me.
I greatly enjoyed the process that Donna took us through! I will lean into her framework often as I pursue my next chapter.
